Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 11.13.5

tat tat sāttvikam evaiṣāḿ

yad yad vṛddhāḥ pracakṣate

nindanti tāmasaḿ tat tad

rājasaḿ tad-upekṣitam

SYNONYMS

tat tat — those things; sāttvikamin the mode of goodness; eva — indeed; eṣām — among the ten items; yat yat — whatever; vṛddhāḥ — the sages of the past, such as Vyāsadeva, who are expert in Vedic knowledge; pracakṣate — they praise; nindanti — they scorn; tāmasamin the mode of ignorance; tat tat — those things; rājasamin the mode of passion; tat — hy the sages; upekṣitam — left alone, neither praised nor criticized.

TRANSLATION

Among the ten items I have just mentioned, the great sages who understand Vedic knowledge have praised and recommended those that are in the mode of goodness, criticized and rejected those in the mode of ignorance, and shown indifference to those in the mode of passion.
