para-svabhāva-karmāṇi

na praśaḿsen na garhayet

viśvam ekātmakaḿ paśyan

prakṛtyā puruṣeṇa ca

SYNONYMS

para-svabhāva-karmāṇi — the characteristics or activities of others; na — not; praśaḿset — one should praise; na — not; garhayet — should criticize; viśvam — the universe; eka-ātmakamas one; paśyan — seeing; prakṛtyā — by nature; puruṣeṇa — by the living entity; ca — and.

TRANSLATION

"'One should see that because of the meeting of material nature and the living entity, the universe is acting uniformly. Thus one should neither praise nor criticize the characteristics or activities of others.'

PURPORT

This verse from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.28.1) was spoken by Lord Kṛṣṇa to Uddhava.
