mallikārjuna-tīrthe yāi' maheśa dekhila
tāhāń saba loke kṛṣṇa-nāma laoyāila
SYNONYMS
mallikārjuna-tīrthe — to the holy place known as Mallikārjuna; yāi' — going; maheśa — the deity of Lord Śiva; dekhila — He saw; tāhāń — there; saba loke — all the people; kṛṣṇa-nāma — Lord Kṛṣṇa's holy name; laoyāila — He induced to chant.
TRANSLATION
Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu then went to Mallikārjuna-tīrtha and saw the deity of Lord Śiva there. He also induced all the people to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra.
PURPORT
Mallikārjuna is also known as Śrī Saila. It is situated about one hundred miles northeast of Karṇula on the southern bank of the Kṛṣṇā River. There are great walls all around the village, and within the walls resides the deity known as Mallikārjuna. It is a deity of Lord Śiva and is one of the Jyotir-lińgas.
