Canto 1: CreationChapter 15: The Pāṇḍavas Retire Timely

Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 1.15.3

kṛcchreṇa saḿstabhya śucaḥ

pāṇināmṛjya netrayoḥ

parokṣeṇa samunnaddha-

praṇayautkaṇṭhya-kātaraḥ

SYNONYMS

kṛcchreṇa — with great difficulty; saḿstabhya — by checking the force; śucaḥ — of bereavement; pāṇinā — with his hands; āmṛjya — smearing; netrayoḥ — the eyes; parokṣeṇa — due to being out of sight; samunnaddha — increasingly; praṇaya-autkaṇṭhya — eagerly thinking of the affection; kātaraḥ — distressed.

TRANSLATION

With great difficulty he checked the tears of grief that smeared his eyes. He was very distressed because Lord Kṛṣṇa was out of his sight, and he increasingly felt affection for Him.
