nārtakyo nanṛtur hṛṣṭā

gāyakā yūthaśo jaguḥ

vīṇā-veṇu-talonnādas

teṣāḿ sa divam aspṛśat

SYNONYMS

nārtakyaḥ — female dancers; nanṛtuḥ — danced; hṛṣṭāḥ — joyful; gāyakāḥ — singers; yūthaśaḥin groups; jaguḥ — sang; vīṇā — of vīṇās; veṇu — flutes; tala — and hand cymbals; unnādaḥ — the loud sound; teṣām — their; saḥit; divam — the heavens; aspṛśat — touched.

TRANSLATION

Female dancers danced with great joy, and choruses sang, while the loud vibrations of vīnās, flutes and hand cymbals reached all the way to the heavenly regions.
