taḿ dṛṣṭvā vṛṣṇayo hṛṣṭās

tanvaḥ prāṇam ivotthitāḥ

pariṣasvajire gāḍhaḿ

cira-darśana-kātarāḥ

SYNONYMS

tam — him, Nanda; dṛṣṭvā — seeing; vṛṣṇayaḥ — the Vṛṣṇis; hṛṣṭāḥ — delighted; tanvaḥ — living bodies; prāṇam — their vital air; ivaas if; utthitāḥ — rising; pariṣaśvajire — they embraced him; gāḍham — firmly; cira — after a long time; darśanain seeing; kātarāḥ — agitated.

TRANSLATION

Seeing Nanda, the Vṛṣṇis were delighted and stood up like dead bodies coming back to life. Having felt much distress at not seeing him for so long, they held him in a tight embrace.
