paśyed ātmany ado viśvaḿ

pare sad-asato 'vyaye

ātmānaḿ ca paraḿ brahma

sarvatra sad-asan-maye

SYNONYMS

paśyet — one should see; ātmaniin the Supreme Soul; adaḥ — this; viśvam — universe; pare — beyond; sat-asataḥ — the creation or cause of creation; avyayein the Absolute, which is free from deterioration; ātmānam — himself; ca — also; param — the supreme; brahma — absolute; sarvatra — everywhere; sat-asatin the cause and in the effect; maye — all-pervading.

TRANSLATION

The sannyāsī should always try to see the Supreme pervading everything and see everything, including this universe, resting on the Supreme.
