citraḿ bataitad ekena

vapuṣā yugapat pṛthak

gṛheṣu dvy-aṣṭa-sāhasraḿ

striya eka udāvahat

SYNONYMS

citram — wonderful; bata — oh; etat — this; ekena — with one; vapuṣā — form; yugapat — simultaneously; pṛthak — separately; gṛheṣuin the houses; dvi-aṣṭa-sāhasram — sixteen thousand; striyaḥ — all the queens; ekaḥ — the one Śrī Kṛṣṇa; udāvahat — married.

TRANSLATION

"It is astounding that Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who is one without a second, expanded Himself in sixteen thousand similar forms to marry sixteen thousand queens in their respective homes."

PURPORT

This verse is from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.69.2).
