śayānān vīra-śayāyāḿ
patīn ālińgya śocatīḥ
vilepuḥ su-svaraḿ nāryo
visṛjantyo muhuḥ śucaḥ
SYNONYMS
śayānān — lying; vīra — of a hero; śayāyām — upon the bed (the ground); patīn — their husbands; ālińgya — embracing; śocatīḥ — feeling sorrow; vilepuḥ — lamented; su-svaram — loudly; nāryaḥ — the women; visṛjantyaḥ — shedding; muhuḥ — repeatedly; śucaḥ — tears.
TRANSLATION
Embracing their husbands, who lay on a hero's final bed, the sorrowful women loudly lamented while shedding constant tears.
