saḿvibhajyāgrato viprān

srak-tāmbūlānulepanaiḥ

suhṛdaḥ prakṛtīr dārān

upāyuńkta tataḥ svayam

SYNONYMS

saḿvibhajya — distributing; agrataḥ — first; viprānto the brāhmaṇas; srak — garlands; tāmbūla — betel nut; anulepanaiḥ — and sandalwood paste; suhṛdaḥto His friends; prakṛtīḥto His ministers; dārānto His wives; upāyuńktaHe partook; tataḥ — then; svayam — Himself.

TRANSLATION

After first distributing flower garlands, pān and sandalwood paste to the brāhmaṇas, He would give these gifts to His friends, ministers and wives, and finally He would partake of them Himself.
