ekam pādaḿ padākramya

dorbhyām anyaḿ pragṛhya saḥ

gudataḥ pāṭayām āsa

śākham iva mahā-gajaḥ

SYNONYMS

ekam — one; pādam — leg; padā — with his foot; ākramya — standing on top of; dorbhyām — with his two hands; anyam — the other; pragṛhya — taking hold of; saḥhe; gudataḥ — beginning from the anus; pāṭayām āsatore him asunder; śākhāma tree branch; ivaas; mahā — great; gajaḥan elephant.

TRANSLATION

Bhīma pressed down on one leg with his foot while grabbing Jarāsandha's other leg in his hands, and just as a great elephant might break the branch of a tree, Bhīma tore Jarāsandha apart from the anus upward.
