anye tad-anurūpāṇi

manojñāni mahātmanaḥ

gāyanti sma mahā-rāja

sneha-klinna-dhiyaḥ śanaiḥ

SYNONYMS

anye — others; tat-anurūpāṇi — suitable for the occasion; manaḥ-jñāni — attractive to the mind; mahā-ātmanaḥ — of the great personality (Lord Kṛṣṇa); gāyanti sma — they would sing; mahā-rājaO King Parīkṣit; sneha — by love; klinna — melted; dhiyaḥ — their hearts; śanaiḥ — slowly.

TRANSLATION

My dear King, other boys would sing enchanting songs appropriate to the occasion, and their hearts would melt out of love for the Lord.
