Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 3.12.54

yas tu tatra pumān so 'bhūn

manuḥ svāyambhuvaḥ svarāṭ

strī yāsīc chatarūpākhyā

mahiṣy asya mahātmanaḥ

SYNONYMS

yaḥ — one who; tu — but; tatra — there; pumān — the male; saḥhe; abhūt — became; manuḥ — the father of mankind; svāyambhuvaḥ — of the name Svāyambhuva; sva-rāṭ — fully independent; strī — the woman; — one who; āsīt — there was; śatarūpā — of the name Śatarūpā; ākhyā — known as; mahiṣī — the queen; asya — of him; mahātmanaḥ — the great soul.

TRANSLATION

Out of them, the one who had the male form became known as the Manu named Svāyambhuva, and the woman became known as Śatarūpā, the queen of the great soul Manu.
